The West Virginia Wildwater Association (WVWA) was founded in 1965 with the purpose of paddling and enjoying the wild and scenic rivers of West Virginia and the surrounding Appalachian area. From the original hand full of members, it has grown into a major recreational and conservation organization in the state. West Virginia is blessed with some of the best, and most diverse, whitewater in the country. The WVWA is dedicated to helping others enjoy, understand, and appreciate the joy of paddling. We sponsor clinics for new boaters thoughout the year, schedule trips during the paddling season, and work to keep paddlers aware of conservation and access concerns. The WVWA holds meetings on the third Tuesday of each odd numbered month, normally at at the South Charleston Public Library. The meetings start at 7 pm. The address is 312 4th Avenue, South Charleston, WV. To get there from I-64, take the Montrose Drive Exit (Exit 56). Turn right and go to bottom hill to stop light. Turn left on MacCorkle Avenue. Go about a block and turn left on 4th Avenue at the Speedway Gas Station. Go about 2 blocks. The Library is on the left. Click here for a map. Our publication, Splashes, has six publications a year: February, April, June, August, October and December. If you want to submit articles, we are always looking for contributions! The deadline for submissions is the 15th day of the month prior to publication (i.e., November 15 for the December issue.). Please send your trip reports, photographs, and other submissions to Susan Sharp at editor@wvwa.net or by snail mail at 2407 33rd St, Parkersburg, WV 26104.
